Cygnet

The Boathouse Executive

Our Boathouse is shared by two independent rowing clubs, Cygnet and Barnes Bridge Ladies. Both clubs were originally conceived as and still remain, Civil Service sports clubs. Therefore the boathouse is leased by the The Civil Service Sports Council (CSSC) on behalf of both clubs. In turn, both clubs pay a capitation to the CSSC for use of the building. However, because of the specialist nature of rowing, the CSSC leave day-to-day management of the boathouse to a separate committee called the Boat House Executive Committee (the Exec.). This committee is made up of members of both Cygnet and BBLRC and acts as a bridge between the two clubs and the CSSC. As well as the Boathouse, the Exec. also manage the Shed, the Ute and all Head Race boating.

The Boathouse Exec. meets approximately six times a year including an AGM in April and the current officers are as follows:

  • Chair  Tom Broadhurst (Cygnet)
  • Captain  Chris Jaguers (Cygnet)
  • Secretary Marjorie Israel (Cygnet)
  • Assistant Secretary Lizzy Saary (BBLRC)
  • Treasurer Sian Kunert (BBLRC)
  • Assistant Treasurer Amelie Gourdon-Kanhukame (BBLRC)
  • Bar Steward Mustafa Ozyurt (Cygnet)

Ex officio members

  • Cygnet Captain
  • BBLRC Captain
  • Head Race Boating Coordinators
  • Emanuel School boathouse manager

The Exec. is always looking for willing volunteers to help with jobs around the club be it on the committee or not. If you're keen to help out the clubs an any capacity please contact the Chair using the link below.
