File an incident report

For any Emergencies on the river dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

If the incident involves a motor vessel and is reported immediately then that vessel can often be apprehended by the PLA. Call London VTS (Vehicle Traffic Services) on 020 8855 0315

All incidents should be reported via the British Rowing On-line Incident Reporting system.

Repots can be made anonymously but if possible, please Log-in first so that you can be contacted if further details are required.

Reports are important for statistical purposes and to improve both safety and navigation on the river.
They can be incidents that involve any other craft, not just rowing boats. Types of incident that should
be reported include:

  • Capsize
  • Collision
  • Near miss
  • Washing down
  • Grounding
  • Poor or reckless navigation
  • Incorrect lighting
  • Foul language or abusive behaviour
