Boathouse Improvements
3rd June 2020
They often say that whilst the sun is shining we should be making hay, so whilst they are no rowers the Exec. intend to begin some renovation to the Boathouse - but we need your help. The committee have been hard at work behind the scenes to get scullers on the water and the ergs distributed to members of both clubs. The CSBE have bee working hard for the members of both clubs and now we need your help...
The vision is that by the end of July we will have :
- Cleaned and prepped the changing rooms
- Repainted and glossed the walls inside the changing rooms
- Sanded the floor
- And given the outside of the boathouse a good lick of paint.
And of course we have thought very carefully about the risk assessment with regard to Social Distancing and prioritising our members good health. Therefore if you are sick, experiencing symptoms or shielding please do not come down to the boat house, you are not expected to volunteer. However, if you are healthy and can help please could you sign-up for a slot that suits you via this spreadsheet.
Guidelines will be sent to volunteers but the main rule will be only two people at any one time in either changing room, and to distance all the time (hence the need for a spreadsheet). No hanging around on hard etc. No use of kitchen, consistent with rules for scullers.
If you have experience or more used to DIY please can I ask you to put your name down for the more technical aspects on the schedules.
The first job is cleaning and preparing the changing rooms, after which the schedule is as follows
- Clean tidy and decant contents into bar and shower areas
- Wall prep, polyfiller, fungicide, masking tape and sugar soap
- Sand down gloss or strip
- White emulsion to walls and ceiling x2
- White gloss door frames
- Radiator primer to hot water pipes
- Radiator paint to big pipes and radiator
- Undercoat to tongue & groove/bench and under bench
- Gloss to above
- Sand floor then varnish.
If everyone does a little bit it would mean that we would get the club house looking great before we all return to rowing and also helps share the responsibility. We look forward to seeing your name on the sheet. Let's get the inside looking almost as good as the outside - thanks to Jackie Darling.
Kind regards
Civil Service Boathouse Exec.
