Cygnet Weekly Update: Tuesday 7th July 2015
7th July 2015
Righto,
The weekend just gone was obviously focused on Henley Royal Regatta, and subsequent recovery. Club Day on Friday was, as ever, brilliant - and our heartfelt thanks to the Slys for hosting us at Old Blades - we are a lucky club indeed. Plus we had the honour of a rowpast in the afternoon tea interval involving a crew made up entirely of Cygnet Captains - we managed not to stuff it up, although it was probably just as we weren't felt worth launching the drone for. Only 25 more Henley Fridays until the next one...
Not a lot of activity on Saturday, understandably, but there were boats out on Sunday, and there are various crews going out this week. This Friday Henley Masters Regatta kicks off. We have two crews entered:
- Mas.B 2- of myself and Nick B. First race is the Quarter-Final at 11.36 on Fri, against City of Cambridge
- Mas.B 4+ of Sue, Bart, Gav, myself, and Nick B. We've got a bye to the Semi-Final at 12.52 on Saturday (against winner of US Veterans vs Maidstone Invicta)
This week
Weeknight outings - Sue's sent out crew lists.
Squad Erg - tbc, watch this space.
Wednesday evening - boat-loading for Henley Masters - if anyone is around to lend a hand after outings, would be much appreciated.
Thursday evening - post-outings dinner, IF someone responds positively to Cris's call for a volunteer cook.
Friday morning- Ute and Trailer going to Henley Masters
Saturday morning - Ute going to Henley Masters
Sat & Sun mornings - set outings, crew lists to follow (but note that Coach Sue will be at Henley Masters on Saturday).
Further ahead
There are three important things you need to take heed of, ensure they're in your diary, and mentally prepare for:
Friday 17th (yes, next Friday!) is the House of Lords reception. This is probably your last reminder, as the Palace of Westminster needs a few days notice of the names. So don't risk missing out - if you haven't already, confirm your attendance on the website.
Tuesday 21st will be the Cygnet AGM, where the captaincy are elected. It will be good to see as many of you as possible there. If you're interested in any of the captaincy roles, please speak to myself, Ian M, or Nick B, who'd be happy to talk you through what's involved.
The weekend of 25th and 26th of July is St Neots Regatta. We have already entered a number of crews of various shapes and sizes, and will double-up bodies wherever possible (including in mixed boats with BBL) to make a good weekend of it for everyone. But this really is your last chance to confirm availability with Sue or I if you haven't already. Also, could you include your availability up to the following weekend, as we will be going to Henley Town & Visitors Regatta on Sat 1st Aug.
That's all for now.
