19th March 2023
Club news and events for the first quarter of 2023 – photos below.
Land training
Land training back in full swing at Cygnet HQ. Wednesday Nights are strength and conditioning with Charlie, a staple in our winter training program and a squad favourite session of the week.
Water training
Jack Frost nipping at our catches under beautiful winter skies and good to see the tideway busy again. Cygnet squad back at it for early Saturday outings.
Head racing - Quintin
Not quite the four horsemen of the apocalypse…Cygnets celebrated Burns Night after Quintin Head at the Boathouse complete with some snazzy new stash from SquareBlades.
(Unfortunately Hammersmith Head was cancelled)
VIPs
We finally welcomed Matt Bazeley, Head of the Civil Service Sports Council (CSSC) to the boathouse to discuss rowing, life at Cygnet and a tour of the boathouse. Next time we hope to get Matt out on the river to get the full Tideway experience!
Head Racing – HoRR
Crew #291 Representing Cygnet at Head of the River. The weekend is always a special moment as we mark the end of Heads Season and many, many hard kms of training. Hats off to our crew flying the Cygnet flag and wearing the cygnet colours with pride this weekend. Shout out to our wonderful cox Clara for an excellent racing line and top calls to keep the crew on point. Competing the course in 21:46.1 a top effort from the Cygnet Squad. Now it’s on to Regatta Season, we’ll be picking up the pace (and hopefully some nicer weather!)
