Cygnet Weekly Update: Monday 22nd June 2015

22nd June 2015

Evening,

Not exactly busy at the boathouse this weekend, but we did have Bart & Gav proudly flying the Cygnet colours down the 2k course at Dorney. Racing two statuses above themselves at Senior, they had a good row in the time trial in the morning, and whatever the results on the website say, they definitely did start and finish their race in the afternoon final! Well done to them, and should stand them in very good stead for this Saturday - see below..

And this weekend we have crews to cheer on closer to home, with two of our (four) entries racing at Richmond Regatta on Saturday. Indeed, if you can make it to that rather lovely stretch of river for 2pm, you can cheer on two Cygnet crews in the space of 10mins:

Our IM2 2- of Bart & Gav has a straight final against Walbrook RC at 14.05, and

Our Nov 4+ of: Sue, Cris, Mike E, Alfonso, Jim R is racing Vesta at 14.15, with the final at 17.15.

Barnes Bridge Ladies also have a IM3 8 racing at 12.45 (final at 16.45), and an IM3 4x straight final at 17.55.

This week

Tues evening - outings, Sue has sent out crew list.

This week's erg: 10 minute warm up feet out; 2 x 1k @ 26; 2 x 500m @ 28; 3 x 250m @ 30.

Thurs evening - outings, Sue has sent out crew list. We hope to have Nick Rowett down coaching for the first time this summer too.

Thurs evening - post-outing food. Yours Truly is cooking - please let me know if you plan to stay.

Also on Thurs evening - boat-loading for Richmond Regatta - please lend a hand.

Sat morning - outings may well be disrupted owing to crew members racing at Richmond

Sat afternoon - come along to Richmond at 2pm to cheer on Cygnet.

Sun morning - outings at normal time - crew lists to follow.

u - Training outing for Henley Rowpast Crew. We're at least a man short for this outing, so please mark on the spreadsheet if you're available to jump into a motley crew of captains past and present.

Other Stuff

You'll be sick of me reminding you about the House of Lords reception on Fri 17th July. But not as sick as you'll feel if you forget to sign-up for it and miss out. Do it now, here: (website and booking form).

Finally, we will probably be running our next Learn-To-Row course in September, as usual. However, if you know of anyone interested now, who can't wait that long, please point them in the direction of me and/or Ian. Barnes Bridge are running one of their courses starting on 6th July, and there's an opportunity to join forces with them if there's interest.

That's all for now.
